Past Events
Sunday 25th September 2011 - Dean Dynamos attended 'Hounds in the Grounds' at Blaise Castle Estate, Bristol. A real shame that the day was a bit of a washout, heavy rain in the morning made the ground unsuitable for Flyball, with our team dogs and the dogs trying, 'Have a Go' Flyball slipping and sliding everywhere - not to mention the humans! We made the decision at 2pm to call it a day and pack up for safety reasons. Thanks to all who attended.
Sunday 7th August 2011 - Dean Dynamos attended Paws in the Park, Cheltenham, doing 'Have a Go' Flyball for £1 per dog in aid of Cheltenham Animal Shelter - running a total of 65 dogs as well as doing displays with the Starters and team dogs! Great to see so many people keen to have a go, and hope to see some of you at training very soon, we saw some very promising dogs! It was a good day out despite the showers - thanks to all team members who attended!
Saturday 6th August 2011 - Dean Dynamos teamed up with the Buccaneers Flyball Team to do a display at East Grimstead Flower Show and Fete, incorporating the Companion Dog Show - all in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer. It was lovely to run our dogs in a 'friendly' against another team, and all our dogs were shattered by the end of the day! Annie's new GSD also took second place in the GSD class of the Companion Dog Show - well done! All the team and their dogs had a great time, and we invaded Porton Pet and Aquatic Centre en masse on the way home, causing much confusion as to who all the people in blue tops were!
Saturday 4th June 2011 - Dean Dynamos did a Flyball display/Have a Go Flyball at "Dog Awareness Day", St George's Parish Church Hall, Court Road, Brockworth GL3 4ET. We had a great time at this event, met lots of lovely dogs and people - hope to see some of you at training soon!
Saturday 25th June 2011 - Dean Dynamos did a Flyball display at the Many Tears Family Fun Day and Dog Show at Nibley House, Dursley. We also ran have-a-go Flyball for some of the day and raised a few pennies for Many Tears! Overall the event made £1755 for Many Tears - fantastic!
Sunday 26th June 2011 - The team attended Bark in Pittville Park, Cheltenham. Despite the scorching weather, we had a nice morning wandering around and handing out flyers. Cupcake, our Yorkie, is now officially the Prettiest Bitch in Cheltenham, having taken first place in the Fun Dog Show!
Competitions 2011
Mad Mutts Open Tournament, Acremead 16th April
placed 4th in our division! Well done team, not bad for our first outing in the current format..
Mad Mutts Open Tournament, Acremead 30th April - we took second place! Congratulations to our dogs Calypso, Katy, Dotty and Poppy and to their handlers Annie, Trystan (courtesy of Mad Mutts Team) Kate and Cathy.
Mad Mutts Multibreed, Acremead 2nd May - another second place rosette and a team best time of 21.39! Congrats to Charlotte on running Katy so well at her first show. Thanks to the Mutts for a fab first three shows!
Abbots' Open at Beckett's Farm, Birmingham, 28th May - 6th place....We were reminded at this show that if a certain spaniel does not want to jump the jumps, she won't....oh dear. Kudos to Calypso for running a faultless day, and for running really well when her team-mates were ALL misbehaving - Dotty and Katy followed suit during several races with the jumping rebellion. We had a great time regardless, and welcomed Victoria and Steve in to the world of BFA tournaments!
Abbots' Multibreed at Beckett's Farm, Birmingham, 30th May - 6th place. Rain didn't stop play, and the whole team got a good wash. Poppy got her mojo back in the afternoon, unfortunately too late for us to try and climb up the placings! All dogs and team members had a great time despite the rain, many thanks to the Abbots for hosting.
Kennets' Open, Padworth, 11th June - 5th place. Despite being seeded 6/6 in our division, we managed to take 5th place. Some great teams running today, good fun had by all and lovely weather right up until presentations, when the heavens opened! Great to see Poppy not only on top form today, but also achieving her Flyball Dog Graduate award - 3000 points! Well done that spaniel!

Sheffield Speeders Open, Dogs Unleashed, Bakewell - 19th June
First dogs racing - Katy takes the lead!
5th place. All dogs ran beautifully, with some fabulous starts from Katy and Victoria (0.01!) Had a lovely time at the show, and at Camp Dynamo, despite 2 team members feeling rotten with colds! No-one got much sleep though, and Annie says she's never camping again! Steve and Victoria win the 'Flyball Dedication Award' with Steve having worked all night, then driven up at 5am to Bakewell from Cheltenham and back the same day - we hope he's had a long sleep since! Had an audience of supporters - thanks to all who came along and cheered us on. Team Captain Cathy did predict that families can distract dogs - we all had a good laugh at Dotty running up to the box, then LEAVING her beloved tennis ball mid-race because not only did she spot Kate's Dad, but he also had beef sandwiches...think we got a time of about 30 seconds for that race!
Thanks to the Sheffield Speeders for hosting a great show in beautiful surroundings.

Alpha Dogz Open, Osmaston, Derbyshire, 2nd July
Dionne and Diesel take a well-earned rest from racing!
1st place! A great time was had by all at Osmaston - scorching weather and a lovely venue, with our first 1st place, and three dogs getting milestone awards to top it all off. Diesel got his Flyball Dog, Katy got her Flyball Dog Intermediate and Dotty also got her Flyball Dog Intermediate.
We thought we had a disaster on our hands when our spaniel Poppy went lame on arrival - we found a sore lump on her front right paw, and decided not to run her. However, we had a backup plan, and what a plan it turned out to be. Dionne and her beautiful Collie Diesel (who have only been Flyballing for a few weeks) came along as reserve dog/handler to give Diesel some show experience and a few runbacks. We decided to run him as fourth dog and go NFC (not for competition) if necessary. Diesel made it look like he'd been Flyballing for years, with the team taking first place, as well as smashing our seed time as Dynamos (22.03 to 21.57). A great outing overall by the team - Victoria and Katy the Flyball Rocket are averaging 0.01 starts, Dotty and Calypso ran faultlessly, and Diesel is born to Flyball! Katy even went back into the ring after presentations for another go, and looked confused when there was no box or balls!

Jets' Open, Stockbridge, Hampshire, 14th July
5th place. The Dynamo dogs were a bit rebellious in the morning, with Diesel and Poppy trying to show the other dogs that going round the jumps is much less effort than going over. Cue much shouting of, "Diesel, GET OVER!" "Poppy, GET OVER!" along with some tips/tricks from the Jets and Delta which saw the dogs running beautifully in the afternoon. Sadly it wasn't enough to pull up a place or two, leaving us in fifth but with a great sense of satisfaction at seeing our new Collie Diesel running well again, and Poppy coming back to form after her paw surgery. We also had a lovely time on the evening before the show at the Buccaneers' barbecue - thanks for inviting us along! Here's hoping the dogs are rrrrready for our next show at Acremead.
Mad Mutts Open/Multibreed/Starters - Acremead, 27th/29th July
2nd place Open, 6th place Multibreed, 6th place Starters. We camped all weekend and had a fabulous time - many thanks to the Mad Mutts for a great show.
The Dynamos were on reasonable form in the Open, with Poppy and Diesel going OVER rather than ROUND. We didn't race our fastest times, or beat our seed time, but we did love seeing our dogs enjoying themselves.
We were totally outclassed in Multibreed as we were up in Division 1 with the big boys....we still had great fun though. We missed Diesel :( due to already having one WSD in Multibreed, but welcomed Tam the Cardigan Corgi to our Multibreed team courtesy of Delta Flyball Team. Many thanks to Delta and to Jess for racing her.
Acremead also saw the debut of the Dean Delinquents Starters Team - all of the dogs racing in Starters (Ross, Tiggy, Amber, Molly, and not forgetting CUPCAKE!) were completely brand new to competition and did amazingly well, completing in under 30s when we'd submitted a time of 60s. It was fab to see how our Starters are progressing - many thanks to Sam Bawden of the Mad Mutts for all her help in getting the team to complete.
We also celebrated Cupcake's first birthday during the show with a beautiful cake Victoria had bought her. Congratulations Cupcake on both your Starters debut and your first birthday :)

Dream Team Open, Anstey Park, 4th September
3rd place. Everyone had a great time despite the rain (and the loud music from somewhere in Alton keeping us all awake the night before!). The dogs ran beautifully, with Poppy looking like she's coming back to fitness. She even stole cake from the motorhome to compensate for loss of calories during racing! We wandered into town en masse the night before to have essential team Chinese takeaway, mmmmm. The weather dried up in the afternoon, but not before the hardcore Dynamos had entered (and won various classes in) the Fun Dog Show in the pouring rain!
Thanks to Dream Team/Flaming Flyballers for a great show.

Mad Mutts Open/Starters, Acremead Kennels, 1st October
1st place Open! 6th place Starters.
What a scorching day - a really nice end to the season. Cathy's motorhome brakes failed on the way to Acremead, but the SHOW MUST GO ON - she and Victoria made it from Burford to Abingdon using only the handbrake to stop, all in the name of FLYBALL!
Open team ran a new seed time of 21.54, with some nice changeovers and all the dogs running beautifully. Starters team saw Rosco and Darcy making their competition debut - Rosco ran like the wind (and like he had wind!) and would have easily Flyballed for another few hours. Darcy on the whole was 'above' racing, doing a few lovely runs but mainly preferring to sunbathe in the ring. Cupcake ran very well in the morning but was all hot and bothered by the afternoon. Ross ran beautifully all day even though he must have been so hot in the sun! We also borrowed Jamie from the Buccaneers who was great, hitting the box beautifully each run. All dogs and handlers had a good time, and the team are very sad that it's the end of the season...see you all next year!
