Mad Mutts, Acremead 22nd Sept
Peppi enjoying a post-race-snooze
Dynamos 1st place Open
Dizzydawgs 2nd place Open
Delinquents withdrawn - Peppi raced with Mad Mutts
A great end to the season - both teams seeded top in their Divisions, with Dynamos pulling off another First with Katy back on board. No Nel really slowed the Dizzies down, meaning they took second place even though the dogs raced their little paws off. We withdrew the Starters team - in addition to no Cupcake/Codi, Lola also decided to come on heat the morning of the show! Great to have Captain Cathy and her dogs back for the last show, as well as Tammy, although we really missed Jo, Harriet, Victoria and Steve with all their assorted dogs. Not quite the same without all the team there. Cathy's older dogs Lucy and Scooby joined the Dizzies for warm ups and had a great time. Minette joined the Dynamos, doing some lovely runs in warm up although it was all a bit much when we raced - she decided to run to the other lane and join the Bassetts...but in the next race we had an honorary Dynamo when the Bassetts start dog did the same! We were all very impressed with Diesel in one race when the ball bounced out of the box at an awkward angle, he went way out of the lane to retrieve it, then corrected himself and came back over the jumps! We had great weather and as always enjoyed the atmosphere at Acremead. We decided to camp, having seen how nice the weather was at Padworth, but considering Cathy and Jeanna felt the cold in the motorhome, the rest of the team REALLY felt it in their tents! Ice on all the tents when we woke up...brrrrr! Very sad that the season's now at an end, but we've had some great shows with all the dogs achieving at least one award this year, if not TWO, plus a fab Summer holiday in Anglesey! Not bad for a team who started last year with barely a full Open team at times. Well done everyone, now for the weekend Winter training sessions....see you all soon!

Kennets, Padworth 1st/2nd Sept
Dynamos 3rd place Open
Dizzydawgs 5th place Open
Delinquents 6th place Starters
No Cathy, and not a lot of our team available for the Kennets show, with a combination of none of Cathy's canines, and Tammy being in heat. Dizzies ran with Toby, Marley, Jinty and Nel (but without Harriet handling - which took a few races to sort), and Dynamos had Dotty, Tiggy, Diesel and Bailey. Both teams had seed times achieved with much faster dogs, and Toby was only racing for his second time in Open having had the occasional run at the Champs. Both teams did us proud, with Dizzies doing some great runs and deafening the poor line judges shouting (OVER TOBY OVER!) but not winning enough heats to be in the placings. Toby was a superstar and by the end of the day, he'd totally cracked the whole racing thing! Dynamos were bottom seed in Div 4, with a seed time of 20.34 and no Katy - despite running a fastest of 22.25, we were consistent and had some excellent starts from Bailey and Jo meaning we took a surprise 3rd place! Well done all. We also had a really nice time being Dean Drunks with a great meal down the road at the Butt Inn (snigger) followed by a go on the playground on return...when the Captain's away....muahahahaha....

BFA Championships, 17th August
Dynamos 3rd place Open
Dizzydawgs 2nd place Open
Jin showing off her 2nd place rosette and her CSJ goodies!
Mud, mud, not-so-glorious mud! We had a lovely morning's racing at the Champs, then in the afternoon disaster struck as our Captain Cathy slipped and fell in the mud, injuring her leg. She spent the rest of the afternoon in the St Johns Ambulance van on gas and air <some people will do ANYTHING to get at the laughing gas!> while both teams raced. We were extremely proud of all our dogs at their first Championships, especially Toby who made his Open debut as a start dog in Dizzydawgs. We had some great close racing against our opponents and the atmosphere was superb. At the end of the day's racing, we had to do some squeezing of handlers and dogs into cars, given that a lot of the team had come with Cathy. As the ground had become increasingly soggy, several vehicles had to be towed or pushed off the ground. Poor Cathy couldn't manage to get into a car, and the motorhome was well and truly wedged in the mud, so she and Jeanna travelled back the next day, after her hubbie came as rescue crew (four trains and a taxi later!). Many thanks to the Champs organisers and to Danetre for helping us out with ring party on the Saturday! We were all very muddy and soggy but we'll still be back to do it again next year....
Chilli Peppers Open/Starters, 4th August
IT'S DEFINITELY TIME TO RACE I THINK
Dynamos 1st place Open
Dizzydawgs 2nd place Open
Delinquents 3th place Starters
Dynamos first again! The Dynamo dogs did really well - winning 15/15 heats and gaining 3 First places, plus setting a new seed time of 20.32. Dizzydawgs have also done brilliantly, although just losing out in one heat again and taking 2nd, they have smashed their seed time from 22.61 at Barbury to 21.68 - a marvellous achievement. All the dogs and handlers are racing really well together and we can't wait for next year's holiday. We've had a great time (and have brought home two new team members - welcome to Henry Lawr (WSD) belonging to Daph, and Pod (X) belonging to Harriet - next year's Starter team are going to be a force to be reckoned with!
It was lovely to welcome Tammy and Marley back at Nantwich, as well as superstar Peppi who decided that she quite fancied a go in Starters. Delinquents did really well and took home the 3rd place - not bad for a team we took away expecting them not to complete! The Starters raced all week with winged jumps rather than full netting like they're used to - we are SO pleased how much all the dogs have improved and shown us they can run without netting - we're going to be tougher on you at training now Starters! Toby especially was great - looks like someone needs to have a go in Open now - and where better than the Champs to make your debut....

Tai Lawr (Cheshire Set) Open/Starters 2nd August
Cupcake and Codi take a well earned rest
Dynamos 1st place Open
Dizzydawgs 2nd place Open
Delinquents 5th place Starters
A VERY busy day's racing with the Cheshire Set on Thursday, which saw the Starters and the Dynamos in the ring at the same time - thanks very much to Danetre for the loan of a box to make our lives easier! So so close to another double 1st - the Dizzies were only just beaten in their last race by Sheffield, which went 2 up to each team. Dynamos and Dizzies both set new seed times, with the Dizzies running sub 22 even without Tammy and Marley! The weather had been miserable the day before but held out for us with a few showers. Some very tired doggies (and handlers!) by this point in the week!

Victoria waiting to hand out the rosettes to the lucky Div 8 winners
Dynamos 1st place Open
Dizzydawgs 1st place Open
Delinquents 6th place Starters (30th July)
Started our first Anglesey holiday in style with a double First for both teams! We arrived at Tai Lawr on the Friday evening, ready and rested for Va full day's racing Saturday. The Open teams did us proud, with both teams setting new seed times and improving all the time on crossovers. Victoria had her first experience as a judge for Division 8, with a very proud all Dynamo ring party to support her. She did an amazing job and made the team very proud. We took all the Dynamo dogs to Aberffraw beach on the 29th and had a great time in the sunshine.Delinquents raced in Starters on the Monday, and while we were placed 6th, we were extremely pleased to have started Lola off on her Flyball career - she was running beautifully by the end of the day thanks to training and help from the Ready2Fly team the night before.

Jo & Aaron with Bailey & Tiggy's Flyball Dog awards!
Dynamos 1st place Open
Dizzydawgs 1st place Open
Delinquents 6th place Starters
Another fab show from Sam and the Mutts, with the weather being kind(ish) AND both our Open teams taking 1st place. Open teams ran really well, with both teams being consistent, and Dynamos getting some nice crossovers. Starter dogs are improving all the time, with Toby pretty much ready for Open. Super Delinquent Cupcake is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with, albeit a teeny force. Newish girl on the team Jayde ran beautifully all day - she's the speediest Labrador around! Both Open teams smashed their current seed times again, moving us higher and higher up the Divisions - doesn't look like long before the Dizzydawgs are going to be running sub-22 as well, with Dynamos aiming for that elusive sub-20 now...bring on Tai Lawr and the Champs! This was a great show for milestones as well - with Nel, Jinty, Tammy and Marley all achieving Flyball Dog, and Tiggy getting her Flyball Dog Intermediate - well done!

Bassetts Open, 30th June/1st July
Diesel - er Mum, that's MY rosette, GIVE GIVE GIVE
Dizzydawgs too fast for Division - no placing due to breaking out
Dynamos 4th place Open
Dizzydawgs - The day began on top of a windy windy hill that didn't bode well for Teresa's new gazebo! Cathy kindly brought a tent, which transpired not to have any poles, so Teresa slept in her car!
Thankfully, we all awoke keenly for the Dean Dizzydawgs debut. Unsure whether our dogs were up to the challenge, we borrowed Bailey and Poppy from the Dynamos to ensure we completed runs.
The dogs ran fantastically, perhaps a little too well actually! Nel was very fast and consistent on her Open debut and we were very proud of her. We'd previously ran 24 seconds or more in training, but broke this consistently, causing us to break out of the Division, meaning we automatically lost any race we ran. It was unfortunate but great practice for the newly fledged team and a good opportunity to earn some points.
Dynamos - Sunday saw the Dynamos racing in the VERY changeable weather, we got sunburn, windburn and soggy doggies in equal measure! We only had Diesel, Dotty, Katy and Tiggy racing - Jo had been on a night out before the show, meaning she was a little too 'delicate' to bring Toby to try in Open doing some warmups and runbacks! The Dynamos were on form despite being bottom seed in a 7 team Div, earning points galore and running sub-21 for the first time in the team's history. We were delighted to pull up into 4th place, but especially pleased to see 20.90 as our new seed time. Diesel and Katy are vying to be crowned 'fastest Dynamo' - both of them did some super runs along with Dotty and Tiggy - our only mistakes were overkeen handlers trying to push and push our changeovers, the best mistake to make! A super weekend racing - we can't wait for our team trip to Anglesey!

Dream Team Starters/Open, 16th June
2nd place Open
2nd place Starters
First group camping trip of the season, although cold, the weather was considerably kind. Cathy was pleased to see the tent town had not blown away in the night, as there were a few gusts that managed to even rock the motorhome! Not many of the group slept well but it was an early start and we were all ready ready after Steve took a quick walk to McDonalds for our brekkie!
The morning saw the Dynamos – Katy, Poppy, Bailey, Tammy, Tiggy and new recruit, Jinty, running well. Sadly, something spooked Tammy early on and she decided she would rather cheer the team on from the side lines. The team ran well with everyone taking a fair share of runs. We even beat top seed! Poppy was pleased as punch with the jump heights being lowered by our two height dogs, Tiggy and Jinty. She is really back on form now. Jayde's mum, Laura, had to help with Katy catching as she ran as 1st dog and was determined to get another go (cue the whole team shouting “KATY NO”). Steve also did a great job at box loading.
The lunch time break brought even more fun with the fun dog show. Cinderella won her first ever rosette as 3rd Prettiest Bitch. Poppy was 1st in “Waggiest Tail” (no surprise there, does it ever stop?), Victoria and Cupcake were 1st in “Dog that most looks like its owner”, Aaron and Tiggy got 1st in “Best 6 legs” with Laura and Jayde getting 2nd and Victoria and Codi claiming the 3rd!! Nell came 2nd in Dog the Judge Would Most Like to Take Home (glad they didn't take her home, WE need her!) Jinty got 1st in “Best Trick” by cleaning up some rubbish and Tiggy, the team’s top Staffy got BEST IN SHOW! Well done Tiggy! What a credit to the breed she is!
In the afternoon, it was time for the Starters to strut their stuff and strut they did! This show saw us welcome lovely Labrador Jayde into the team, and it felt as though she had always run with us. Marley, Jayde, Toby, Nell and Codi ran without fault and Cupcake did some fantastic runs, despite a slight mix up with balls on one occasion! Marley’s confidence has been restored since the last show and he didn’t even notice the paparazzi this time (who were told to run away whenever he ran, but they must have forgotten!). Jeannie stepped in as rookie box loader.
What a fantastic super long day we all had, with everyone taking home a lovely silver medal and a wheelbarrow full of rosettes between us. The whole team really pulled together really well. We must remember more blankets for the next show but we are all getting ready ready for the Dynamo holiday!

Somerset Scrumpys' Open 19th May
Tammy (L) and Marley (R) pose with their winnings - well done you two!
4th place Open
Having left the Forest with drizzle and grey skies, we were pleasantly surprised to reach this lovely venue and see the sun was shining! As there were no Starters at this show, we were back to the 'old days' of one Open team - meaning a very relaxed show with plenty of time to socialise back at camp - and to groom the dogs. Victoria got about 4 new team members worth of hair out of Bailey's coat! Racing went well, with our experienced dogs Poppy, Dotty, and Tiggy running well as per usual. We had the addition of former Dean Recruits Starters Tammy and Marley to the Open team - as their team took 2nd at Acremead last week they were looking more than rrrready for Open! Bailey also joined us (thanks to Victoria and Steve for bringing him), despite Jo not being able to make the show. The two new dogs and handlers did us proud, with Teresa stepping up to the mark and doing some great times with Tammy as start dog despite having only ever run her as 4th dog, and Danni proving very flexible and running Marley in a variety of positions with some lovely changeovers. Both dogs seemed to really enjoy themselves. Marley was a bit freaked out by the tournament photographer in the afternoon (he didn't expect paparazzi QUITE so soon in his racing career) but did some beautiful runs throughout the day. Bailey didn't want to run for anyone in the morning, getting up to the box, triggering it and then looking at Graham as if to say, "Where is my Mum!?". We found that he would run for Aaron in the afternoon, meaning that Aaron provided entertainment for the other teams (not to mention confusion for the other team members/boxloader when Cathy came up with the plan) by running Bailey first and Tiggy last! We all had great fun, and came away with a 4th place as well. Well done everyone.

Acremead Open/Starters 12th May
4th place Open
2nd place Starters - Dean Recruits (Marley, Tammy, Nell, Ross)
4th place Starters - Dean Delinquents (Cupcake, Codi, Toby, Amber, Jinty)
We started off the day at Acremead a little worried - with no Diesel for this show, Katy then decided to come into season leaving the Open team with only 4 dogs - Tiggy, Bailey, Dotty and Poppy. Jo and Harriet (with Nell, Bailey and Toby) also timed it closely, arriving at the show about five minutes before our first race having got lost on the way, giving our team captain Cathy a few more grey hairs! Our mood soon changed after the morning's racing, as despite our team being a LOT slower than our seed time (21.74 - we were running 24 on average with these dogs) they were dependable, and were winning races as other teams were faulting. Tiggy did have a bit of a 'blue lane syndrome' moment but soon remembered what she was supposed to be doing! Our Starters did us proud, with both teams winning race after race and looking great! The afternoon's racing also went well, with the sun shining all day, our dogs having a great time and the team eventually coming home with a SECOND PLACE in one Starters division, along with two Fourths in Open and the other Starters division. Ribbons all round (when they arrive from the manufacturer!) and some very happy handlers and dogs! Well done everyone - the team spirit & atmosphere all day was great and everyone supported everyone else - that's what it's all about!

Acremead Open/Starters - 21st April
5th place Open
6th place Starters - Dean Dizzydawgs, Tweed Division
6th place Starters - Dean Delinquents, Moss Division
Dynamos LOVE Acremead - it was our first show last year as a team, and the Mad Mutts are a great host team. We were seeded 6th in Open and extremely outclassed but had a great time nonetheless in Div 6. We were bottom seed but managed to pull up a place against Danetre to take fifth. Poppy and Tiggy were out, and Ross was having an excited scatty day, meaning that Bailey was called on to race all day and he rose to the challenge admirably. Dionne and Diesel achieved their Flyball Dog Intermediate (1000 points) within the first couple of races, with Dionne deciding to do a 0.00 start to celebrate, meaning Diesel ran an amazing 4.29 as start dog! Keep it up Measy! We did have to shelter from the rain for the afternoon of Div 6 but the weather soon cleared up.
Starters had great fun - we'd enlisted two Bone Idol dogs to race with us in Tweed, and it turned out one of these dogs was our Tammy's litter-mate! The Canen Collies Tammy and Disco were reunited for a day and raced really nicely, with Teresa doing a great job at her first show. Our other Bone Idol dog Honey was also a little superstar and it was really nice racing with the Bone Idol team. Marley performed beautifully again, with Danni handling him really well - all the team were cheering him on in one leg when he dropped his ball, but he realised and went back for it immediately, and Dean won the race! Nell the Springer, who Harriet was racing at her first show, also did wonderfully, with Harriet doing some great starts.
Moss Division saw the Delinquents racing - Codi, Cupcake, Toby, Amber and Rosco and they also did a fabulous job! Codi looked amazing - especially to those team members who have never seen her in the 'racing mode' before as she seems to have just clicked overnight as to what it's all about. Cupcake did some lovely runs and is a fast little dog, beating collies in the other lane (and to Sam Bawden's disappointment, her Staffy!). Toby seemed to really enjoy himself, Amber was great, doing perfect box turns each run, and Rosco is so keen on the whole thing he kept trying to go twice! We managed to win a few legs in each Division, and other teams who didn't quite understand why we cheered even when we lost obviously didn't see the Starters running last year - it's so good to see the dogs completing their races even if we don't get placed!
What a great show - everyone really enjoyed themselves despite the random hailstorms during Division 6 and Starters meaning we all had to take refuge in the ring! Thanks Mad Mutts - we can't wait until May.
Thanks also to Victoria for all her work as Captain in Starters today - everything went very smoothly indeed. We must also congratulate her and Steve for all their hard work with the terriers - we hope they were suitably proud that it all paid off yesterday!

Water Orton Open/Starters/Multibreed - 8th/9th April
Bailey - super second place best boy :)
2nd place Open
Starters Not for Competiton (NFC)
Multibreed withdrawn
What a mudbath! The bad weather meant that we withdrew our Multibreed team on the Monday due to concerns over skidding dogs (Katy the speed demon!).
We had a lovely time in Sunday's Open with last year's team dogs (Katy, Poppy, Dotty and Diesel) being joined by two great new dogs - Tiggy the Staffy and Bailey the Crossbreed. Tiggy was an absolute natural from her first to her last race, and has the added bonus of dropping our usual jump height of 12in to 10in - she's a fab fast height dog with a great box turn. Bailey wasn't quite sure about the whole thing in the morning but that was our fault - we were short of time trying to warm 6 dogs up rather than 4, and threw him straight in at the deep end and totally confused him. On the third heat of the day we gave him a PROPER warm up over two jumps, then three, then a run back, then up to the box - he got it straightaway and happily ran as start dog most of the afternoon. It was so nice to be able to swap dogs in having run all last season with just 4 dogs - so much easier for the dogs and the handlers.
A change to Starters caught us by surprise - with all our Starters team bar two (Jinty and Toby) heading to the venue from Gloucestershire (and Cwmbran!) for 10am, it was announced that Starters were running first - 8.30am! Cue several phone calls to cancel those who had not left home (poor Amber was VERY disappointed indeed) and a quick trip to the Admin tent - recruiting us Lettice the WSD (Molten) and Junior the Lab (Water Orton) to add to Jinty the JRT and Toby the WSD who were already at the show. Racing started and all the dogs were running well - cue the dramatic arrival of the other two Dynamo Terrierists Codi and Cupcake - with Victoria getting Steve to drive right up to the ring, running in and releasing Cupcake as last dog without missing a step! Our Welsh recruits Teresa and Danni arrived with Marley before the end of the Starters, so with more dogs to run we went NFC so everyone could play! Marley, who has only had one training session, ran like a professional, meaning that our Starters team completed each time - we were so pleased that not even the drizzle could dampen our spirits! Thank you to Water Orton Wonderdogs for a excellent show - we think you're owed some great weather for your next one! Donna - thank you for the help recruiting Starter dogs, and Sam B thanks for the help and valuable advice with our new dogs/handlers.
Is it time for Acremead yet?
