Dean Dynamo Dogs come in all shapes and sizes!

Dean Dynamos & Dean Dizzydawgs - Open Teams 2012

Diesel - Border Collie/WSD
3585 points - Flyball Dog Graduate

Picture
Diesel (aka Diesymeasy!) is a very handsome Border Collie who comes from a farm background. He is extremely quick to learn and eager to please. He's also very keen to bring various team members special Diesel presents - such as empty plastic bottles, tuggies and tennis balls. He  likes to help clear away after training by stealing sections of jumps and other equipment! 2011 was his first season racing, and he had a great year, achieving his Flyball Dog in his first ever Open competition at Osmaston in July. He's born to do Flyball, and is a great addition to the team - racing just as fast as our rocket dog Katy at training sessions! He did a super run as start dog at Acremead in April 2012 - 0.00 perfect start, 4.29 seconds - showing us all how it should be done!

Poppy - Cocker Spaniel
5205 points - Flyball Dog Advanced

Picture
A Cocker Spaniel, born in 2007 and found starving and living in dirty conditions at 5 weeks of age, so needed lots of TLC and nursing to get her back to health. Now 4 years old and loves Flyball people and food. She has been known to steal children's ice cream when walking around a country show without breaking step...she can also do her Flyball run then jump out of the ring to steal food off cake stalls. Watch out if you meet her as she’ll mug you for any treats!

Poppy competed in the European Flyball Championships in 2010.

Katy - Border Collie/WSD
4430 points - Flyball Dog Graduate

Picture
A working sheep dog, rescued from a town garden in 2010 when probably only about a year to 18 months old. She barked at tennis balls constantly, throwing them in the air to catch, and then rolling on them! They had been her only source of stimulation. She'd had never been on a lead and was totally unsocialised and very frightened of men. She still hides if you shout or get cross so even if she’s been very bad you have to keep your voice light - she has been trained with positive reinforcement only. She was originally named Cassie, but Katy is a bit less of a mouthful! 2011 was Katy’s 1st year competing, and she has already done a 4.05 run as start dog. Katy is very vocal and likes to bark all day at competitions unless she’s taken away from the ring.

Tiggy - Staffordshire Bull Terrier
2765 points - Flyball Dog Intermediate

Picture
Tiggy is a beautiful black and white SBT bitch, who has raced with the Open team since Easter 2012. She is proof that Staffies can do whatever they choose to turn their paws to, and being measured at 10inches she's a great height dog for the team. She makes us all laugh by refusing to do her warm up run-back iunless she has a ball, and if she's shattered by the end of the day's racing, she drags her handler Aaron back to his car using her tuggy!

Marley - Crossbreed
920 points - Flyball Dog

Picture
Marley is a crossbreed, his mother was Border Collie x German Shepherd, and his father was a Great Dane. He will be 3yrs old this year. Danni, his owner, says, "Marley became my dog when he was 12 months old, he belonged to a lady who had a rescue centre, but he attached himself to me so determinedly he had to come home with me! Marley has always been clumsy & I thought he would trip over all the hurdles when I brought him to Flyball, but he surprised everyone and took to it like he'd been doing it all his life. He's always been a bit of a scaredy cat too but when he's doing Flyball, nothing seems to phase him! I am really pleased with him and very, very proud of him." Marley has gained his Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme (GCDS) Bronze Award. Marley made his Open debut at the Somerset Scrumpys show on 19th May 2012 and is now an experienced team member.

Toby - Border Collie/WSD
165 points

Picture
Toby is Bailey's best friend, and came to Johanna from a collie rescue, when she went for a girl and came back with him! She picked him because he used to jump up so high off all four legs that he could lick your face!! He's come a long way since then and now is the most lovely dog that makes her laugh every single day!! He didn't know what a tennis ball was but Bailey showed him how to play! Now he loves his Flyball and is starting to show us all how it should be done. He's racing in Open and while he occasionally decides going around the jumps is more fun than going over, he's quickly reminded of his job by Jo!

Dotty - Crossbreed
4720 points - Flyball Dog Graduate

Picture
Dotty came to Kate and Graham aged eight months in May 2010 after her first family had to give her up for personal reasons. She absolutely loves Flyball, and the dog who 'doesn't bark' surprises everyone when she becomes nearly as vocal as Katy when they're waiting on the start line at competitions! Dotty trains regularly with Cheltenham and District Dog Training Club, competing in Obedience at Pre-Beginner/Beginner level. She has achieved her Bronze, Silver and Gold Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Awards and was on the 2013 Crufts Gold Good Citizen Dog Scheme Display Team. When she's not racing, she loves lazing in the sunshine or jumping on team members' laps and slurping them in the face when they least expect it.

Bailey - Crossbreed
1320 points - Flyball Dog Intermediate

Picture
A beautiful big crossbreed boy who has fitted into the Open team like he's raced with them for years. Despite apparently not being the most handsome puppy, he's grown into a gorgeous boy, with a super temperament to match.
He is ball mad and loves to jump - even clearing the field fences at his first training session because he couldn't wait to play! Bailey loves Flyball but when he's not racing he also enjoys going hacking with the horses.

Tammy - Border Collie/WSD
865 points - Flyball Dog

Picture
Tammy is a beautiful, loving, red & white BC/WSD who was born on 5th April 2010. She came into Teresa's life at 8 months as a rescue from the "Preloved" site. Teresa says, "She has had a lot of issues but we are gradually working through them, the main one being that she is very nervous of other dogs when they are invading her space." Tammy has always been very ball orientated & fast and has taken to Flyball like a duck to water. Tammy made her Open debut at the Somerset Scrumpys show on 19th May 2012 and races like she was born doing Flyball!

Jinty - Jack Russell Terrier
1475 points - Flyball Dog Intermediate

Picture
Jinty is a 100% full of life terrier with a passion for games, toys, games and cuddles. Her favourite thing is a combination of all these things - a Flyball camping trip! This little fox is up for fun and keen to please. Jin is the only dog in our household and seems to lavish the attention.
Jinty achieved her KC GCDS Bronze in April 2012, and her Silver in April 2013. Jinty made her Open debut at Basingstoke on 16th June 2012, doing some lovely runs and making all her team mates very happy that they only had to jump 7 inches. The team won second place, showing that our Jinty is proof that good things DO come in little packages!

Nel - Working Springer Spaniel
780 points - Flyball Dog

Picture
Nel, also known by her KC name Henrietta Houdini, came from working stock in Warwickshire. She was born in 2010, and as a pup was a scared little girl who would run away from strangers and was too scared to go in the garden. She was terrified of other dogs and life in general. While she's a working gundog, she wouldn't retrieve for ages, she'd run to to fetch and even then if you looked at her, she'd drop whatever she was carrying and skulk away. Rather than retrieving pheasants, she's now happier catching her own rabbits and bringing them back! She was working well to the shot but had a bit of a fright last November with fireworks, meaning she's become a little gun-shy, so she's taking a break from field work to do some Flyball! She would sell her soul for chicken, and is great friends with Toby and Bailey, her teammates, who have taught her that dogs aren't all that bad! She has a lovely 'grin' when she's happy, often mistaken for a snarl, but it's a smile! She's grown into a cuddly affectionate dog who's getting on really well with all her teammates.

Amber - Border Collie/WSD

Picture
Amber is a Border Collie and came to live with the Russells as a puppy in 2008, chosen for her beautiful colouring and a certain something special! She has fitted into the family well and is loved by all who meet her! Amber is an energetic, fast and agile dog who LOVES playing with balls and has the perfect catch, as well as enjoying catching her frisbee in the garden and accompanying her owner on runs, as well enjoying cuddles with the family in the evening. Amber joined Dean Dynamos in June 2011 and is making good progress at Flyball and socialising with all of her other teammates, her confidence continuing to increase. She successfully competed in Starters in 2011/2 and is running really well, demonstrating a lovely box turn each time. She will be running for the first time in Open at Padworth in May 2013.

Dean Delinquents Starter Team 2012

Cupcake - Yorkshire Terrier

Picture
Cupcake was born 29th August 2010. She is only the 5th Yorkshire Terrier ever to be BFA registered, and hopes to make a name for herself! Cupcake is very energetic and lively, and loves everyone that she meets....unless other doggie friends get too close to her owners Victoria and Steve as she is very loyal and protective! This also applies to her food and her tennis balls, which makes Flyball a lot of fun! Cupcake is an experienced Starter dog, showing great drive and enthusiasm in 2013 -  she can run perfectly without netting, so if we can get her to trigger the box she's rrrready for Open!

Peppi - JRT

Picture
Peppi is a very small JRT born on 24th June 2005. At 8yrs old she seems to be proving that older dogs CAN learn new tricks! Her "sister" Tammy started Flyball & Peppi was quite interested, until she heard the box being triggered (she has a real fear of any sort of bang!), After that she wouldn't go near the box but suddenly decided at Nantwich that she would give it another go, helping her team secure third place in the Starters competition.
Teresa says, "Peppi is the friendliest little Jack Russell I have ever come across .... towards people & other dogs - but she will tell them off if she thinks they need reminding of their manners! She gained her Good Citizen Bronze award last year and is generally very well behaved! I have had her from a pup and couldn't be more proud of her!"

Lola - Staffy X Cocker (STOCKER!)

Picture
_Lola-Lou was born in August 2011 and is a lively little one who doesn’t understand the word rest! She is on the go all the time which is a great attribute for a future Flyball superstar! She plays with her 'big brother' Diesel and is already enjoying forest walks. She made her Starters debut at Tai Lawr in 2012 and was doing some super runs by the end of the holiday - she's very fast and very keen, we just need to do some work on getting her to fetch balls rather than her beloved tuggy. Her team took 3rd place at Larden Green Farm in August 2012.

Codi - Jack Russell Terrier

Picture
Codi is Cupcake's 'little sister' and was born April 6th, 2011. She is a black and tan miniature Jack Russell, and she can really run! She's lively and energetic, which mixed with her gentle nature makes her an excellent Flyball dog in the making. Although only small, she loves to play ball with her friends at Flyball, and enjoys a long sleep after training. She's proven herself in several Starters competitions and is able to run without netting AND trigger the box - we're hoping for her Open debut for the 2013 season!

Jayde - Labrador Retriever

Picture
A Labrador born in 2011. She is a quiet little girl who loves her tennis balls. and well FOOD, she likes nothing more then sniffing around for treats. Jayde is agile , fast and picks up commands really quickly, so no surprise she's a natural at Flyball. She loves her kisses and will let anybody give her tummy tickles once she gets to know them. When she first started, she was nervous of people, but is coming out of her shell more and more. Jayde is also hoping to excel at Agility when she starts in 2013,  Her owner Laura says, "I hope she enjoys Flyball and will win lots of rosettes and make her mummy and the team proud." Jayde, who was smashing in her first Starter comps, is hoping to make an even bigger smash when she makes her Open debut!

Ross - Dobermann

Picture
Ross was born on 25th August 2007.
Ross is a gentle giant, and loves to run and play with his best mate Bailey (Welsh Border Collie) down the corn fields where we live in Huntley. Ross loves to lie in the sun in the garden and also bark a lot. He loves his food (well any food if he can get it) and at night time loves nothing more than to cuddle up on the sofa with me. Ross joined Dean Dynamos in June 2011 and is doing very well. He's got the hang of the box now, thanks to Jill's patience and a LOT of hot-dog sausages!

Dinky Dynamos (pups not old enough for Starters yet!)

Sky - WSD

Picture
Sky is a Border Collie who came to live with Dave and Louise as a puppy in May 2012, and has settled into the family very well. She is working towards her achieving her Bronze and Silver KC GCDS in Spring/Summer 2013, learning fast but still needing to work on some areas of Obedience. Sky is a fearless, sociable dog and loves to play, especially with her (surrogate) Aunty Amber. She is demonstrating a keen interest in BALLS and Flyball, but needs to work on her catch!! Sky is hoping to make her Starters debut in 2013.

Cinderella - Chihuahua x JRT

Henry Lawr - WSD

Retired (ish!) Dynamo Dogs

Lucy - Labrador Cross

Picture
A black Labrador X English Springer Spaniel, now in her 12th year but still loves to play ball! Retired from Open competition in 2011 and is now content to bark her encouragement to her team mates from the sidelines. Lucy competed in the 2007 Flyball Championships. Lucy is slow due to her age, but she's reliable and steady and loves having the occasional run in Starters when needed!

Scooby - Labrador Cross

Picture
Lucy’s daughter, a chocolate Labrador x English Springer Spaniel born in 2003. She suffers with problems with her back and is unable to compete unless we run a height dog (under 11” at the withers) but still loves to do Flyball and hates being left out of the team! Scooby competed in the 2007, 2009 and 2010 European Flyball Championships. Scooby is loving being back on the team for the occasional run this season (2012) as we now have a JRT height dog. It's great to see her enjoying Flyball again - especially that lovely box turn!

Calypso - German Shepherd Dog

Picture
A beautiful black and tan German Shepherd who competed at the European Flyball Championships 2009, but developed pancreatitis shortly afterwards and nearly died. She is still on medication for her medical condition and will be for the rest of her life so it has been a struggle to return her to fitness.

Unfortunately Calypso collapsed at home in December 2011 and while she is back on her feet thanks to lots of TLC, she will not be racing again. So far she's managing well on pain relief and rest - sending lots of Dynamo love to both Calypso, and Annie her handler.
